1872 Foundation as "Committee for the Cotton Trade" by cotton traders/brokers (later banks, shipping and forwarding companies, spinning mills and insurance companies joined the committee). Establishment of the "Bremen Cotton Practices" from which the Rules of the Bremer Baumwollboerse emerged.
1886 Joining of the Association of the South German Cotton Processing Industry, followed by other German spinning associations.
1889 Bestowal of legal status by the Senate of the Free Hanseatic City of Bremen.
1894 Joining of the Austrian Cotton Processing Industry which is represented in the Board of Directors. For the first time imports of more then 1 million bales via Bremen.
1900 Laying of the foundation stone of the exchange building, inauguration in 1902.
1906 Joining of the Swiss Association of Spinners, Twisters and Weavers which is represented in theBoard of Directors.
1912 Largest import volume via Bremen: 2.8 million bales.
1914 Opening of the Bremen Cotton Futures Market.
1927 Import of 2.6 million bales via Bremen.
1946 Recommencement of cotton imports with 250,000 bales, mainly from U.S. government stocks.
1950 Cotton imports via Bremen reach again 1 million bales.
1954 Liberalization of cotton imports.
1955 Setting up of the Laboratory of the Bremen Cotton Exchange.
1956 Reopening of the Bremen Cotton Futures Market.
1957 Import of 1.7 million bales.
1961 Completion of the multi-storey car park.
1963 New edition of the Rules of the Bremer Baumwollboerse is put into effect.
1964 1st International Cotton Test Conference.
1969 Foundation of the Fibre Institute Bremen e.V.
1971 Closing of the Bremen Cotton Futures Market.
1987 More than 1.5 million bales imported via Bremen.
1989 Integration of the Laboratory of the Bremen Cotton Exchange into the Fibe Institute Bremen.
1996 23rd International Cotton Conference.
1997 125th Anniversary of the Bremen Cotton Exchange.
2000 25th International Cotton Conference.
2005 Adoption of the community trade mark "International Cotton Emblem".
2006 Adoption of the Liverpool Rules.
2009 Re-opening of the cotton-lab and wool-lab at the Bremen Cotton Exchange
2010 30th International Cotton Conference.
